On the other hand, I believe in the identity and individuality of each person, and hence am devoted to encourage people to seek help utilising and maximising their uniqueness, achieving their full potential.’

“Psychiatry and mental health care has done more to alleviate human suffering than many other branches of medicine. Working in the field of mental health is also intensely stimulating and rewarding, both intellectually and clinically. The final frontier of human knowledge is the working of the mind and the brain. We know a lot more now about the causes and cures of mental disorders, and yet there is so much more to find out. Each human being has their own unique strengths and abilities; and in psychiatry we can combine the objective science of medicine and the subjective art of healing in a deeply human and humane manner”.

‘As we get older it is common to get age-related memory problems. However, advancing age is also the biggest risk factor for developing a Dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease. Therefore, if you are experiencing memory problems it is worthwhile getting a comprehensive assessment because if it does turn out to be Alzheimer’s disease, the prognosis is good if we catch it early and there are treatments that can slow it down. My life mission is to dispel the stigma and fears around Alzheimer’s disease because if diagnosed early it is seen a chronic disease condition rather than as a life limiting condition and with the appropriate treatment and support one can have a good quality of life and continue to live in one’s own home.’
